Who We Are
Homesteading in color
Hey, Neighbor!
I'm Nivek Anderson-Brown—wife, mother, grandmother, and co-founder of Leaf & Bean Farm. Alongside my husband, I've spent the last several years building our homestead from the ground up in rural Virginia.
Although we were both raised in the city, our families had deep roots in country living, so the pull toward a more self-sufficient, connected lifestyle always felt natural. With faith, determination, and a willingness to learn, we took the leap into homesteading and built our knowledge one season at a time through research, hands-on experience, and plenty of trial and error.
I was blessed to grow up with parents and grandmothers who shared the foundations of gardening, food preservation, and traditional homemaking. Those early lessons became the roots of our homestead and continue to shape the way I teach today.
Leaf & Bean Farm was created to help beginner homesteaders build confidence one skill at a time. Whether you're planting your first garden, preserving your first harvest, or taking your first steps toward a more self-sufficient lifestyle, you'll find practical education, encouragement, and a welcoming community ready to learn alongside you.
I'm so glad you're here, and I can't wait to show you what Homesteading in Color looks like.
